There's a good reason Hanging Lake is one of the most popular hikes in the state of Colorado. Geologically speaking, there are few places in the world that can compare to this marvel of Mother Nature. Hanging Lake is a rare example of a lake formed by travertine deposition where the natural geologic and hydro-logic processes continue to operate as they have done for thousands of years.
I was standing on snow-covered branches with no firm ground underneath me when I made that shot. The camera was on a tripod, but there was nothing solid holding the tripod up, when I made this long time exposure. I made quite a few shots in the hopes that I would get lucky.
