Pinkerton Hot Springs, Durango, Colorado. Our travelling friend Chris Moose was amazed and enthralled to find this colorful spring right next to the highway that leads from Durango to Silverton. He confessed the water was not quite warm enough for his tastes, and that it did not taste particularly good.
Our first soak at Orvis Hot Springs in the Sangre de Christo Mountains above the San Luis Valley of Colorado. Most of the water at these springs is warm, not hot. Two new pools utilize excess electricity from the pelton wheel to heat the water to around 103 degrees. Great soaking!
We were lucky to spot these guys. Cruising down the Colorado highway, saw an animal walking along the side of the road was larger than a dog and smaller than a moose. Thought it might be a sheep, sure enough. Found a collection of these critters up on the rocks. Don't they blend in well?
